Showing and Hiding Course Content

The Avenue courses are distributed with the sections visible. However, all activities within those sections are hidden from learners. Before using a course with learners, instructors need to make the course content visible. Instructors may also want to hide the sections that they are not using.

1. At the top of the course homepage, click on the Edit mode toggle button in the upper right corner of the screen to activate the editing tools. 

Note: The toggle moves to the right, indicating that course editing is now on.

Note: The sections expand, and all activities appear on the course homepage with editing icons visible. Hidden activities and labels are accompanied by highlighted text that reads Hidden from students. They appear as shown below.

2. To access the Hide and Show features, instructors must click on the Edit icon beside the activity or resource.

3. When the drop-down menu appears, click on the Availability option.

Note: A sub-menu with three options appears:
 

• Show on course page.

• Hide on course page.

• Make available but don't show on course page.

4. Click on Show on course page to make an activity or resource visible to students. 

Note:  The activity is now shown to learners.

Note:  To hide course activities or resources, follow these steps.

4. Select Hide on course page to hide an activity or resource from students.

Note: The activity is now hidden from learners.

1. When the course edit mode is on, editing icons appear in a section's drop-down menu.  A section heading that is not hidden appears like this:

2. The section can be hidden by clicking the Hide icon in the drop-down menu. 

Note: After clicking the hide icon, the section heading will appear as:

Note: The Hide icon in the drop-down menu becomes a Show icon, and all content in the section is invisible to students. 

3. Clicking the Show icon will make the section visible and restore each item's previous visibility state.
