Once edit mode is enabled in a course, the editing icons are displayed within each section and block. These icons allow instructors to change the position of items on a page, adjust their availability for students, and provide access for editing the activities and resources.

Editing icons in a block appear in the top right corner.

Editing icons in a section appear inline with the section title.

Editing icons in a section appear inline with activity and resource elements.

Edit icons reveal drop-down menus with additional options.

Avenue icons along with their functions are listed below.

Move

This icon allows an instructor to drag and reposition a resource or activity vertically in a section or up and down a course page. This same icon is used to move an entire section or a block. If you need to move a resource, activity, or section to the top or bottom of your course page, you can save time by dragging it a short distance and then, while still holding down the left mouse button, pressing the Home or End keys to move it directly to the top or bottom of the page.

Move Right / Left

This icon allows the instructor to indent or outdent activities and resources on a course page.

Group Mode

Allows instructors to activate separate groups, visible groups or no groups for activities and resources.

Edit Title

This icon allows the instructor to change the title of a resource, activity, or section on a course page. After editing the title, it is necessary to press the Enter key to save the changes.

Configure / Edit Settings

This icon is used to change settings for blocks and sections.

Show / Hide

These icons are used to show or hide activities or resources from students in a course.

Make available but don't show on course page

This icon hides activities or resources from the course page while keeping them available through direct links in other course activities, such as a Page or a Book.

Duplicate

This icon is a real time saver, as it duplicates an activity or resource and allows course editors to use previous work as a basis for new resources or activities. If you want to retain past learners’ work while creating a new activity for new learners, you can use this feature to make a copy that does not include previous student work.

Assign Roles

This icon allows instructors to assign specific roles to participants in particular resources or activities. This feature is useful for small-group tasks, as it enables instructors to grant selected students limited teacher-level permissions within a specific activity.

Delete

This icon allows instructors to permanently delete activities or resources. Use this feature with caution.
