Showing and Hiding Course Content

Avenue courses are distributed with sections visible. However, all activities within those sections are hidden. Before using the courseware with learners, instructors need to make the course content visible. Instructors may also want to hide the sections that they are not using.
1. At the top of the course homepage, click on the Edit mode toggle button in the upper right corner of the screen to activate the editing tools.
Note: The toggle moves to the right, indicating that course editing is now on.
Note: Activities appear on the course homepage with editing icons visible. Hidden activities and resources are accompanied by highlighted text that reads Hidden from students. They appear as shown below.
Note: There are two ways to change the visibility of activities and resources to students. Follow the steps outlined in Methods A and B.
Method A: Using the Edit Icon
A1. To access the Hide and Show features, click on the Edit icon beside the activity or resource.
A2. When the drop-down menu appears, hover your mouse over the Availability option.
A submenu with three options appears:
- Show on course page
- Hide on course page
- Make available but don't show on course page
A3. Click on Show on course page.
Note: The Hidden from students notification disappears.
Method B: Using the "Hidden from students" Notification
B2. In the drop-down menu, click on Show on course page.

Hiding and Showing Course Sections
Note: When editing mode is on, a section heading that is not hidden appears like this:
1. It can be hidden by clicking on the Edit icon beside the section name.
2. Then, click on the Hide option in the drop-down menu.

Note: There are two ways to make this section visible to students. Follow the steps outlined in Methods A and B.
Method A: Using the Edit Icon
A1. Click on the Edit icon. Note that the Hide option is now a Show option, and all content in the section is invisible to students.
A2. Clicking the Show option will make the section visible and restore the visibility of all its content to the state it was in before the Hide option was selected.
Method B: Using the "Hidden from students" Notification
B1. Clicking the Hidden from students button, beside the Section name, opens a drop-down menu.
B2. Choosing Show on course page will make the section visible and restore the visibility of all its content to the state it was in before the Hide option was selected.
