Forum Settings

It is important to set up your forum settings to be able to more readily participate in course forums. 

Setting Your Email Address

To ensure that you receive all postings, check your email and forum settings by clicking on your name or picture in the top right corner of the screen.

1. Choose the Profile option from the drop-down menu.

Note: Make sure the email displayed is your email address. 

2. Click on the Settings link to specify who can see your email address.

3. In the User details section, click on the Edit profile link.

Note: The Edit profile screen appears.

4. Scroll downwards to the Email visibility item.

5. Change the Email visibility setting to Visible to course participants. 

Forum Subscription and Digest

The forum setting, Auto-subscriptions is a time saver. If it is turned on, every time you post to a forum, Avenue automatically subscribes you to the forum. 

This means that you will receive emails from every post made to that forum in the future. Emails can be sent individually or as a daily digest. Some people prefer the digest as it lessens the number of emails in their account.

1. To set up forum Auto-subscription, click on your name or picture in the top right corner of the screen.

2. Choose the Preferences option from the drop-down menu.

3. In the User account section, choose Forum preferences.

4. Set the Email digest type to Subjects (daily email with subjects only). 

Note: this will reduce email clutter in your inbox.

5. Set the Forum auto-subscribe to Yes: when I post, subscribe me to that forum discussion.

6. Click on the Save changes button.
