Upcoming Events Block

The Upcoming events block displays future events in a summarized list. Events are generated from the calendar or activity due dates (or both) and include a link to the full details or directly to the activity. There are also links to Go to calendar... and Add a New Event....

Avenue users can set, through their user profile, how many upcoming events appear in the Upcoming events block and how many days to look ahead for events.

Note: The image below shows the relationship between this block and the Calendar block.

Adding an Upcoming Events Block to a Course

6. Click the Save changes button.

Note: To move the block to a more specific location, use drag-and-drop to override these settings.

Using the Upcoming Events Block

The Upcoming events block displays a list of the next important events in the course as designated by the instructor. To set the number of upcoming events to display, follow the steps below. The number of upcoming events is determined by the Maximum upcoming events and the Upcoming events look-ahead settings.

Note: These settings only affect the Upcoming events block for the individual user who changes them. A teacher cannot set them for the whole class.
Note: The Upcoming events block appears like this on a course page.

1. In the Avenue banner, click on your profile image.

2. In the drop-down menu, click on the Preferences option.

Note: The user Preferences page appears.

3. In the User account section, click on the Calendar preferences link.

4. Set the Time display format to 12-hour (am/pm) or 24-hour.

5. Set the First day of the week.

6. Set the Maximum number of upcoming Calendar events.
